Some questions I still have
I’m not sure whether interactions with people whose faces are not imprinted can produce baseline emotions. Children certainly react emotionally in those situations, but it’s unclear whether those emotions become permanently active. It’s logical to assume they would, since interactions with people who cannot be imprinted seem important and clearly affect us as adults. For example, people often describe having a trusted person who helped them through their childhood.
But how exactly does that work? I think it’s likely that those experiences mainly influence our beliefs rather than creating baseline emotions. Those beliefs are important because they help determine our emotional reactions as adults. But I suspect that the emotions experienced in those situations do not become baseline emotions.
I have the same question about motor linkages. Does attention from someone who is not imprinted cause them to form? I currently have no strong opinion either way.
Despite all of this, I am quite certain that the process I describe elsewhere reverses both baseline emotions and motor linkages regardless of how they came about. I also believe that looking at pictures of people who are not imprinted, even if they were felt to be important, does not affect baseline emotions or motor linkages in any way.
